Welcome to inline block

My name is Joseph Chapman and inline block is my online home. I'm a front-end Web developer and a backend hobbyist, and when I'm not gaping at my new daughter I enjoy spending my time expanding my knowledge of Microformats, designing better PHP classes and looking for smarter ways to do just about everything.

I have a penchant for standards and accessibility, I love the integral details that are so often hidden from view and I have an insatiable desire to know how and why things work. This Web site is my playground; where I think, experiment and of course, play.

Design & Development

My shows off a collection of the design and development work I have built or toyed with elsewhere. When you're not looking I'll update my portfolio to reflect my most current practices and expertise. If you don't see anything change for some time, I may just be tinkering under the hood, or changing nappies, whatever the case, expect some accessible, standards-driven code to follow.

Something to Say

Trying to keep a of my experiences online is an exciting but time-consuming task, which is, by it's very nature; never ending. Nonetheless, expect a sporadic, but brilliant¿ array of possibly incoherent musings. In case you're wondering, the inverted question mark '¿' stands for sarcasm.

This Week I have Been Mostly…

…spending a lot of time writing a piece of code to aggregate my blog. That's right, I'm developing my blog so that readers will be able to subscribe and recieve automatic updates. Simultaneously, I'm hoping to add search functionaility to the blog to enable users to search for articles of interest by date, tag and keyword. I have my work cut-out.

Touch Base

If you feel the desire to contact me, send me a love letter or derogatory hate mail, you'll find the obligatory and several other contact methods scattered around the site. Don't be a stranger, I would love to hear from you, whatever the reason, actually I prefer not to recieve hate mail, but if you must then please get in touch, it's very easy to use and I must say I'm also quite proud of the way it looks too.

Accessibility

I have done my utmost to ensure that the code used to build this site adheres to the W3C standards, I have taken steps to provide accessible alternatives where specific browser support is required and checked and rechecked. However, it is natural that mistakes may have been made or circumstances not considered. Therefore, if you unable to view or use this site at a level which you find to be adequate, please email me at joseph.chapman@inline-block.co.uk.
